Congratulations to our board president and arts advocate, Tara King on receiving the Visit Bucks County Award for her significant contribution to the tourism and hospitality industry in Bucks County! Tara serves as the Executive Director of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce providing resources and visibility within the Upper Bucks busniess community. This is a well deserved acknowledgement, once again proving that arts and culture offer a significant contribution to our economic development in Bucks County. Brava!
Earlier this summer, the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County provided its members with the amazing opportunity to tour Italy! They were abroad for about a week and were able to share their musical talents in 4 concerts during the tour. The cities they visited include Padova, Venice, Verona, Tuscany, Lucca (the birth place of Puccini), Via Reggio, Florence, Siena, Rome and Vatican City.
We were recently invited to speak on a local talk show, "Bux Mont Live" on WNPV AM 1440 in Lansdale. We were happy to discuss the recent activities of the Arts & Cultural Council and the various groups we are partnering with. The show aired on June 28th. Congratulations to the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra who were honored with an award acknowledging 60 years of outstanding service in the Performing Arts! The award was presented by the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County at the annual members reception at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown on June 12th.
Legendary musician David Bromberg was a recent guest on "Miles of Music," the longest running cable access guitar show in the history of television. Creator and producer Bob Miles (pictured right) provided our musical entertainment at the Arts & Cultural Council's member reception last year. Now in production for a new season of Miles of Music, Bob is filming on set in New York City at the legendary Peter Max Art Studio.
Artist and ACCBC member Elizabeth Miller McCue has artwork featured in a new book by E. Ashley Rooney and Margery E. Goldberg entitiled Green Art: Trees, Leaves and Roots, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. This new release features a selection of international artists working with natural materials and is available for order thru Schiffer, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.
